QUEEN’S PARK – As the Legislature resumes today, Ontario New Democrats are continuing their fight for safer northern highways after two weeks on the ground listening to families, workers, and first responders. NDP MPP Guy Bourgouin (Mushkegowuk – James Bay) stood in the house to call on the government for transparency on Highway 11 closures and fatalities, demanding clear answers on how often this vital route is shut down and how many lives have been lost this year.
“Today, as the Legislature resumes, New Democrats are pressing for answers on the safety of Highway 11 after two weeks listening to northern communities. Just yesterday, there were 2 collisions on Highways 11, which left the highway closed from Smooth Rock Falls to Kapuskasing and at Val Gagné.
“Families deserve to know how often this critical highway is closing and how many lives have been lost this year. These aren’t just numbers; they reflect real people and real consequences. Northerners have waited long enough. It’s time for transparency, accountability, and meaningful investments to make our highways safer.”
We're so happy to have you on the team. We'll be in touch soon.
